DEATHRASH: 1986 Live Recording Of 'A Time To Slay' Posted Online
March 10, 2007Bassist/founding member Pat Burns of the reunited New Jersey thrashers DEATHRASH has issued the following update:
"We've posted 'A Time To Slay' from our August 10, 1986 show at the legendary CBGBs [on our MySpace page]. It was our first BIG show and we were opening for NUCLEAR ASSAULT and SHEER TERROR at a Sunday Hardcore Matinee. Tommy Victor of PRONG was doing the sound and we wisely invested the $20 for a soundboard tape. Things I remember about that show are our equipment barely fitting on the stage, being so loud the owners were pissed at us and getting a great response from the crowd. This track as well as the rest of that CBGBs show will be on the 'Thrash Beyond Death' CD."
The upcoming DEATHRASH CD, "Thrash Beyond Death", is expected to include live recordings circa 1986-87 from CBGB in New York City, The Grunge Club in upstate New York and the band's last show at The Electric Banana in Pittsburgh. In addition, the album will include the new songs "Unfinished Business" and "Thrash Beyond Death". All the original members are involved: John Scherer (vocals),Pat Nemeth (guitar),Tim Scherer (guitar) and Pat Burns (bass).
DEATHRASH's lineup briefly included drummer Tony Scaglione, who had previously played with WHIPLASH, SLAYER, LUDICHRIST and RAGING SLAB, among other acts.
